| Is Perrin livestock? |
My first thought was, "Why didn't you check the laws before you bought a pig?" I personally checked my town's animal ordinances and it listed domesticated pigs as an acceptable animal. My second thought was that maybe the family did check the ordinances and thought they would be fine because a domesticated pig isn't livestock.
In this case, a misguided neighbor anonymously complained because they didn't want to live near a pig. I'm sure Oscar, the pig in question, doesn't want to live near a bigot, but you don't hear him squealing to town hall about that.

ReplyDelete"Just so you know the reason this happened is because Delta Township has 2 ordinances that are conflicting. One is in regard to pets and one in regards to livestock. The pet ordinance allows him but the livestock one does not if you consider him livestock.....it's all a matter of how it's interpreted. At the last zoning board meeting the vote was split 3-3 pets vs. livestock. They all agree the ordinances need to be more clear and they need to be re-written but the governing board won't do it, they say there are more important things to deal with."
